A Vision of Passion & Purpose

Daunara represents the culmination of a dream shared by three people with a passion for Africa. Together, they have created an ecotourism destination that represents their love for Botswana, and their commitment to not just creating memorable safari experiences, but having a positive impact on local communities.

Owners David, Lisa and Matt met on safari in Botswana and soon realized that their different but complementary skill sets could be combined to create a new kind of safari business – one that has people and wildlife at its heart.

Matt’s decades of guiding experience, Lisa’s flair for design and David’s business acumen have created a joint venture forged from friendship, a deep love for Botswana, and the desire to give back to the communities living on the fringe of the Okavango Delta.

Daunara is built on solid foundations of expertise and innovation, and promises to transform the lives of everyone it touches.

Daunara Founders

David & Lisa Lubbock

Quality, Detail, and Philanthropy

David has been a successful businessman and entrepreneur, running his own businesses across the globe. With three children and two grandchildren, he has decided to step back from business and indulge his passion for Africa and his family by building Daunara.

Lisa worked for the BBC in the '80s as a make-up artist, where she developed her artistic talents. She worked on many dramas, comedy shows, and films. Her love of interior design was born out of a passion for using colours to create moods and themes. Working with Fox Browne Creative to make this lodge a comfortable home away from home for guests has been an uplifting experience.

David and Lisa's attention to detail and obsession with quality run through the lodge, wanting to make it one of the finest in Africa. Having previously supported a school in Kenya serving AIDS orphans for the last five years, they are passionate about giving back. David & Lisa are committed to the support of and for the local communities near the Lodge. The newly formed Daunara Foundation has already started working with the community to build a school, a community centre, and clinic on a plot of land in the village of Duanara. The plan is also to establish a community vegetable garden to service the lodge and create food security for the village.

Our vision was that Daunara should be something meaningful to us and unique for the area. A home we and our guests could be comfortable in and proud of.
